Long chats get expensive: every message re-sends the whole conversation. This skill gives Claude a notes folder it reads instead. You end a session with /save, start the next with /resume, and a fresh session picks up where you left off.
It's one file. Paste it into Claude Code and say "set up my memory vault". Claude asks you five questions, then sets everything up itself: the notes, the two commands, an optional search that adds only the notes that match each message, and a token report. It asks before installing anything and backs up your settings first. The notes open in Obsidian too, as a linked graph.
Needs: Claude Code (the terminal, the desktop app's Code tab, or an IDE). Python is optional; Claude offers to install it. It doesn't work in the plain claude.ai chat, because it creates files on your computer.
Why this one: requests opened on 3 October, so this first one is our own: the setup we use ourselves. From Sunday 11 October, the most-asked request decides.
How to install a skill
- Buy the skill or unlock it with a follower code, then download the ZIP.
- In Claude, open Customize, then Skills, then the + button, Create skill, Upload a skill. In Claude Code you can also just unzip it into
~/.claude/skills/. - Ask for the job in plain words. Claude picks the skill on its own.
Most skills work on the free Claude plan with code execution turned on. Each one says what it needs.
